Dear Praying Friends,
A new 6.1. earthquake or aftershock just hit Haiti this morning. The epicenter was about 35 miles west-southwest of Port-au-Prince. Our mission team is standing in the hangar at Fort Pearce waiting for permission to take off. It appears they may have to wait until things settle down some around the airport from this last big quake. Jim has asked that we pray that the path is cleared for them to get into Haiti this morning.
They were able to load 700 lbs of medical supplies on the plane and have about another 700 lbs waiting to be shipped in later as space provides. Jimmy Hendricks, NASCAR driver, donated his planes, pilots and crews to the Haiti efforts this week and the team will be flying in on his turbo-prop plane. I will post pictures of the team and the plane on my blog this morning.
Sherrie Fausey has contacted the orphanage this morning and assures us that everyone at Christian Light Ministries is fine following this quake - just really frightened.
The news reports that the ground shook like a ship rocking back and forth. This is quite dangerous for the already fragile condition of any buildings standing. Jim isn't wavering on their effort to get into Haiti - this team is eager to get there despite the dangers and start offering much needed assistance to our friends there. PLEASE PRAY for the Lord to open the way for them - for their safety traveling and once on the ground -for the families of the team members to be free from fear for our loved ones. I will keep you posted as to when they take off.
I also want to thank all of you who are signed up for the continuous prayer chain. I know you will be blessed as well as you spend time alone with our Lord in prayer and scripture. If anyone else can commit to even one hour of prayer for this team this week, please check my blog A Heart For Haiti at http://donnatyson.blogspot.com/ for available time slots. Thank you!
In His Love,
Donna
